Monita Davis is a native of New Haven Connecticut and she realized her passion for hair at the early age of 12. Every since she was a little girl she knew she wanted to become a hairstylist. At the age of 23 she started her journey as she enrolled into Amore Beauty College in West Haven Connecticut. Soon after she transferred to East Point Beauty College in Atlanta Ga in June 1996, where 2 weeks before graduation she was recruited by Carol Morrow the owner of the famous Escape Hair Salon. Ms. Davis worked and studied there for 9 years. It was there where she was educated in Paul Mitchell Systems. While at Escape Hair Salon she had the pleasure and opportunity of working with numerous celebrity clients on movies, videos, and photo shoots which includes: Lisa Wu Sweat (HWOA ), Latoya Luckett (Destiny Childs), Christina Johnson(Hollywood Exs), Keith Sweat, Cory (CoCo Brothers Radio Personality 107.9) Condrey, Jason Weaver (ATL), Deron(112), Roberta Shields (Ludacris Mom), O So Krispy ( TLC are you the girl), JOI , Big Gipp (Goddie Mob), Ashley Clay (Celebrity Chef) and a host of others. She was also the primary hairstylist for Ruban Studdards former wife Zuir Mccants and the wedding party.

Ms. Davis work has been featured in several magazines such as Hotlanta, Style Q, Sophisticates Black Hair, Essence and Blaque Magazine. Working on these projects she really enjoyed the behind the scenes because she had the opportunity to work with the world’s best make-up artist like Toni Acey, Clarence Hiley Jr, Christian Balienciaga, and
Linda Dupree. And some extraordinary photographers like Derrick Blanks, Daryl Lane, and Shannon McCollum.

In 2007 she then opened her own salon, Simply Beautiful Hair Salon at 646 Dill Ave. After several years she then went back to school to get her Cosmetology Instructor’s licenses. After receiving her licenses, she started working as an instructor at Ritz and Fayette Beauty College for several years. While there she was recognized as the lead senior instructor with 100% of her students passing the State Board Examination. She also became the lead Instructor for the Cosmetology Teachers Program.

Some of her awards includes: Bronner Brothers Student Competition, International Hair Extravaganzas, Crows Nest Annual Competition, Best Pin up Competition, A Total Look Competition. She was also a Millionaire mindset Sister in the New Haven Connecticut Chapter.

Ms. Davis has participated as a volunteer for several organizations, which includes Rhythm Self-Empowerment Program Inc, Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, Hosea Feed The Hungry, Sister To Sister Homeless Shelter, Battered Women’s Shelter, Trinity Awards, Perkerson Park Give Back, Makeover Atlanta Give Back To The Community all in Atlanta GA, Beauty In Motion and The Jewish Center in (Connecticut) but one of her heartfelt accomplishment was returning to New Haven, Connecticut in 2014 to produce her own Hair and Fashion Show Extravaganza (Beauty In Motion) at James Hillhouse High School. Her mission was to involve students and to expose them to the career opportunities in the Beauty Industry.

Monita is currently the CEO & Founder of Mothers Against Human Trafficking & Domestic Violence or MAHD Inc. As a domestic abuse survivor Monita has dedicated her life to saving human trafficking & domestic abuse victims. As the owner of Queenz of the Castle, Salon & Makeup LLC, she was able to use her community connections to create the “See Something Say Something” campaign in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security. The campaigns mission is to provide local barbershops & beauty salons with resources (education materials, key tags, flyers, posters, training videos, seminars) to provide to clients suffering from abuse. MAHD Inc provides in-house services through their MAHD transitional housing & plan to safety assistance which aids victims in restarting a new, safe life by connecting them to social service programs.
